Supportive Housing

Supportive housing is a core focus of Equal Housing Initiative’s work, as the organization believes that access to stable, affordable housing combined with comprehensive support services is crucial for addressing homelessness and housing insecurity.

Equal Housing Initiative defines supportive housing as “a unique combination of affordable housing and on-site services that provide stability, autonomy, and dignity for those who would otherwise struggle to find and maintain a permanent home.”
This model integrates subsidized housing with 24/7 health, wellness, and life skills support, as well as case management and connections to other community resources.

The individuals who live in Equal Housing Initiative’s supportive housing come from diverse backgrounds, but they all share a history of homelessness and have been assessed to require this added level of support. Residents may have complex needs, such as substance use disorders, mental health challenges, physical health concerns, or mobility issues.

By providing stable, affordable housing coupled with comprehensive support services, Equal Housing Initiative’s supportive housing initiatives aim to empower vulnerable individuals to achieve long-term housing stability, improve their overall well-being, and successfully reintegrate into the community.
